Freezer Repair in Jacksonville, FL
Freezer drawers and columns losing temperature or over-frosting. Serving Jacksonville and Duval County with same-day service.
Freezer drawers and freezer columns fail differently from the fresh-food side. Because the compartment is already below freezing, a defrost fault has nowhere to hide: frost accumulates on the evaporator, airflow drops, and the temperature climbs slowly enough that you often notice softened ice cream days before an alarm.
We service freezer columns, freezer drawers in built-in refrigerators, undercounter freezers and the freezer half of side-by-side built-ins across Jacksonville and Duval County.
Common freezer problems we fix
- freezer not holding temperature
- defrost system failure
- frost buildup on evaporator
- drawer and seal problems
- evaporator fan noise
What actually fails — and how we tell
Defrost heater, thermistor or control
The most common freezer fault. When defrost stops running, ice sheets over the evaporator and blocks the fan. You may hear the fan striking ice before the temperature moves at all.
Evaporator fan failure
A seized or noisy fan stops moving cold air even though the sealed system is fine. Freezer temperature rises while the compressor runs continuously.
Drawer seals and alignment
Freezer drawers take real abuse. A gasket that has taken a set, or a drawer that no longer sits square, lets humid air in and frosts the compartment from the front.
Drain line freeze-up
Meltwater that can't reach the drain refreezes at the base of the compartment or leaks onto the floor. On drawer models it often shows up as ice under the lowest basket.
Sealed system
Long run times with a compartment that never reaches set point points at the sealed system. Diagnosis is by superheat and pressures, not by guessing, and repair is EPA-regulated.
Brand-specific notes
Sub-Zero
Freezer drawers and freezer columns are among the most-serviced Sub-Zero components in this market. On dual-refrigeration models the freezer has its own compressor and evaporator, so it can fail while the refrigerator side is untouched.
Viking
Viking freezer sections most often need evaporator fan, defrost or door-alignment work; ice-maker faults frequently arrive on the same call.
What moves the price on a freezer
- Whether the defrost fault is a heater/thermistor (routine) or a control board (parts-dependent).
- How much ice has built up — a heavily frosted evaporator needs a full manual defrost before anything can be tested, which adds time on site.
- Drawer and gasket parts are model-specific and sometimes order-only.
Typical ranges for every repair we do are published in our Jacksonville repair cost guide. Your exact price is always written down before work starts, and the diagnostic fee goes toward the repair once you approve it.

Freezer repair FAQ
Why is there frost all over my freezer?
Frost that keeps returning means either the defrost circuit isn't running or humid air is getting in. We check the defrost heater, thermistor and control first, then the gasket and drawer alignment.
My freezer is cold but the refrigerator isn't — one repair or two?
Often one. On dual-system units they're independent, but a single shared fault (a fan or a defrost control) can produce exactly that pattern, which is why the diagnosis comes before the quote.
Do you repair freezer drawers as well as full columns?
Yes. Drawer mechanisms, gaskets, alignment and the sealed system behind them are all standard work for us.
Is water on the floor a freezer problem?
Usually a clogged or frozen drain line, sometimes a failed gasket letting warm air condense. Both are repairable without touching the sealed system.
